Jonai Girls’ College is situated in the vicinity of Jonai township area established in the year 1994 with the cherished goal of spreading and imparting higher education to backward women section of Jonai Sub-Division, Assam and abutting areas of Arunachal Pradesh. Since the day of its inception, the college has been relentlessly working to attain its cherished goal of spreading the light of knowledge to hitherto uncontested weaker section of this area. Jonai Girls’ College is the outcome of concerted efforts, sacrifice and dedication of the local people, teaching and non-teaching staff of the college, the farsighted management members and unconditional support of the student community. The college has come across many hurdles and/or stumbling blocks to reach this present stage.

Vision of the College
The vision of the Jonai Girls’ College is to become one of the leading centres of excellence imparting women education.
Violation of rules, unsatisfactory progress, irregular attendance, irregular clearance of college and hostel fees, unruly conduct, adoption of unfair means during examinations etc. Are some of the offence which may make students liable for disciplinary actions like termination of scholarship, forced transfer from college, temporary suspension, fine and event expulsion from college.
Guideline for Students
1. Familiarise yourself with the college rules as notified from time to time.
2. Requires regular attendance of class.
3. Look up the notice board regally.
4. Maintain discipline in and outside the college campus.
5. Keep your college clean.
6. Do not use mobile phones inside the classrooms.
7. Don’t spit on walls and in classrooms. Do ot write or stick anything on walls, desks benches.
Intake capacity of the College
TDC 1st Semester350 nos. (175 in each section)
Students are admitted on merit basis and admission is subject to Dibrugarh University regulations. There is a provision of reservation as per Central/State Government Rules
Rules of Admission
- For admission to BA 1st Semester class, a student must have passed higher Secondary or equivalent examination from a recognized board or council.
- Admission is purely on merit basis. However students with good sports background will also be considered bases on their credentials.
- Application for admission is to be submitted through online.
General Informations Links
The College will award two students securing highest marks in the subject of History(Hons.) and another in any other Hons. subject. The award will be declared on the basis of the Sixth Semester Result every year. The award will carry a cash prize of Rs. 5000/- each and a citation copy. It is a memorial award in the fond memory of Late Janeki Pegu to be sponsored by Sri Mohan Pegu, Head of the Dept. of History and son of Mr. Punyeswar Pegu.

The College has opened a Career Guidance Cell for the student to -

National Service Scheme (NSS)
NSS, under the Ministry of Youth Affairs & Sports Govt. Of India. It operates beyond Campus and functions as an Extended activities. It promotes integrity, Universal brotherhood and team Sprit. The Cell takes up certain activities like, national Integration camp, Blood Donation Camp, Plantatio, Immunisation, Shramdan, Disaster Management, Adventure Programmes etc.
Games & Sports: Outdoor and Indoor games and sports facilities are available for the students. Outstanding performances are sponsored by the college for Inter College and University Sports Competition.
Excursion and Field Studies
College authority facilitates for excursion and Field studies.
The College magazine is brought out annually to encourage original writing and literary activities among students. The Magazine is edited by the student editors elected annually by the students. The editors (Assamese and English Section) work under the guidance of Professor-in-charge
- Reservation of seats for students belonging to SC, ST (Hills), ST (Plains), OBC, MOBC, TGL and Differently Abled students are followed as per Government rules.
- Seats may be allotted to students having outstanding performance record in the field of sports, culture, NCC, NSS, and other Extra-curricular activities.
- Free Admission for students securing above 75%.
The college library was inaugurated in the 1994 with the very establishment of the college itself. Since its inception the college library has been providing its service to students, teachers and employees of the college. The college library at present is housed in a reinforced concrete construction (RCC) building.
Keeping in view of the five laws of library science proposed by S. R. Ranganathan, the library aims to create a healthy and conducive learning environment. The aim of the library is to maximize the availability of the library materials to users and thereby optimize their use.
Library Opening Hours:
Monday to Friday - 9.15 a.m. to 4 p.m.
Saturday - 9.15 a.m. to 1.30 p.m.
There is provision of Book Bank in the college for the benefit of the poor & needy students in the college. It is under the purview of the college library.
Hostel facilities will be provided to the outstation students and admission will be made strictly on merit basis. The interested students may apply for the same at the time of admission.
However the details can be obtained from the office during working hours.
i.e. between 09:00 a.m. to 03:00 p.m.
- Girls' hostel is provided with pure drinking water.
There is a well facilitated Computer Laboratory adjacent to the College Library for the students. The students can avail the opportunity to become a part of Digital World.The Computer Lab. is a proposed site for Wi-Fi campus and other ucomming course package associated with the computer world. Presently the Lab. has Wi-Max connectivity with proper LAN where a good number of students can access the computer at a time.
The students are encouraged to be familiar with the digital world. They can have Free Access to the Internet. They can browse webs and also may download their desired documents/study materials/reference/articles etc.
Jonai Girls’ College provides guest house accommodations towards the special visitors to the college in affordable price. The guest house has 2 nos. of rooms with attached washroom facilities & other required accommodations. The management and maintenance works are monitored by the college resource mobilization committee.
Jonai Girls’ College provides canteen facility within the campus in view to the convenience of its staff and students. The canteen is run by a 3rd party on annual agreement. It is the place where students and staff can have healthy hygienic & delicious food like, snacks, beverages’, breakfast, lunch & fast food items in a subsidized price.
The college has a state-of-the art virtual classroom. Virtual mode of teaching learning transactions are becoming widely accepted by teachers & Students just after the pandemic COVID-19, it was inaugurated on 2nd of the Jan.2022 by Dr.Ronuj Pegu the honorable Education & WPT & BC. Minister of Assam. In presence of honorable MP Mr. Pradan Baruah & Local MLA, Mr. Bhuban Pegu. It enables the teachers to teach their lessons in their natural way & be able to interact and collaborate with their students. In addition to that our teachers can record their entire class session and can post it to Google classroom or other similar platforms. The virtual class room equipped with –

Jonai Girls College students union is the democratically elected Body. The terms of office of the union body is for one academic year. Attendance ester Examinations, held by the Dibrugarh University. This rule is strictly applicable to all the subjects, irrespective of Compulsory, Honours or Core subjects.
Students must wear the college uniform in the college i.e. white kamij, white salwar with orange dopatta. During winter they may wear navy blue cardigan or blazer. They must put on the college identity cards.
The students must put on the identity card in the College campus. If the Identity Card is lost it may be repurchased on cash payment of Rs. 100/-.
